📈 Component Costs Driving Changes

According to the company, memory and storage costs for console hardware have risen over 2.5 times and could double again by fall 2027. Microsoft noted that consoles are often sold below manufacturing cost, with revenue offset by software and services.

🛍️ Programs to Ease Purchases

To help offset the impact, Microsoft is expanding Buy Now, Pay Later options with interest-free installments through Microsoft Stores. Eligible purchases on Amazon will qualify for 0% APR financing for up to 12 months.

Additionally, the company is offering trade-in programs with retail partners and selling Xbox Certified Refurbished Consoles for up to $100 below MSRP.

🎮 Impact on Gamers

The price changes land just as Rockstar opens pre-orders for GTA 6, priced at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Gamers looking to upgrade their console and grab the new release will face higher costs than ever. Will these increases affect your plans to upgrade?
