New PlayStation Games Go Digital-Only in January 2028
Sony will discontinue new disc-based PlayStation games by January 2028.
Sony has confirmed in a post that new PlayStation games are going digital-only.
Sony says the move reflects gamers’ growing preference for downloads over physical copies. The company wants to focus resources on improving access to games and supporting those preferences without maintaining physical media production.
