Valve released Steam Machine e-ink faceplate 3D print files on GitHub.

Valve has released official 3D print files for the Steam Machine’s e‑ink faceplate, giving gamers the opportunity to build their own customizable front panel. The faceplate was first shown during the Steam hardware reveal last year, and now anyone with a 3D printer can make one at home.

🖨️ Build Your Own Faceplate

The complete project is available on GitHub and includes everything needed to create the e‑ink faceplate from scratch. This package contains 3D printable CAD files, a list of required components, assembly instructions in PDF and video formats, and firmware setup guides. Gamers will also find directions for flashing the firmware to a compatible ESP32 board once assembly is complete.

📱 Connectivity and Setup

Valve explains that the e‑ink faceplate can connect to the Steam Machine over Bluetooth. While the company plans to release an official Steam app in the future, builders can currently create their own AppImage following the GitHub documentation. Once connected, the faceplate can display real‑time system stats, custom graphics, and more.

Would you try 3D printing a custom e‑ink panel for your Steam Machine?
