Fortnite has officially returned to the App Store around the world, except in Australia, as Epic Games announces it is entering the “final battle” in its long-running legal fight against Apple.
Epic says the decision to restore Fortnite to iOS globally was prompted by Apple’s own statements to the U.S. Supreme Court, acknowledging that regulators worldwide are closely watching how the company handles App Store fees. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney called the move a strategic step, posting on X that this marks “the beginning of the end of the Apple Tax worldwide.”
The global rollout follows Fortnite’s reinstatement to the U.S. App Store last year after nearly five years away. That return came after a federal judge pressured Apple to approve the app. Epic expects upcoming court-ordered transparency on App Store fees to reveal what it calls Apple’s “junk fees,” which it believes will lead regulators to take further action.
Australia remains the one major market without Fortnite’s return. Epic says it won a court case there, but Apple continues to enforce developer terms the court ruled unlawful. Epic will wait for a court order before relaunching in that region.
