Steam Frame VR driver update hints at launch
SteamDB’s driver release hints that Valve’s Steam Frame VR headset may soon launch, with review units arriving first.
Valve appears to be moving closer to launching its Steam Frame VR headset. While the company has not yet confirmed a release date or price, a recent update to its Wireless Adapter driver suggests preparations are underway. The driver, now listed as a Windows tool on SteamDB, has officially been marked as “Released.”
Valve has already brought the Steam Controller and Steam Machine to market, leaving the Steam Frame as the final product from its announced hardware lineup. The new driver update could indicate that the software foundation for the headset is nearly complete, a common step before a public release.
According to SteamDB, 21 people are currently testing the updated driver, which may hint that review units are already in circulation. Historically, Valve has confirmed pricing and release dates shortly after similar testing periods, raising the possibility of an official announcement in the near future.
