Xbox Remote Play: What You Need Before Using Another Screen

Xbox Remote Play streams games installed on your console to another supported screen.

Your Xbox Still Runs the Games

Microsoft supports Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. You need remote features enabled on the console and a Microsoft account with an Xbox profile.

Remote Play can access installed games, including Game Pass titles. Your home console is still required.

Check Your Device and Controller

Microsoft’s device requirements specify the following versions:

DeviceRequired Version
Android6.0 or later
iOS15.1 or later
Windows 10/1122H2 or later

Compatible smart TVs, Meta Quest headsets, and other browser-supported devices are also included. You need a supported Bluetooth controller.

Check Your Connection

Microsoft specifies 5GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data with 10Mbps download speed. Mobile data charges may apply.

Meeting that requirement is a starting point. It does not guarantee the same results on every network.

Game and Multiplayer Access Still Matter

Some games and online multiplayer may require Game Pass. Remote Play does not replace those access requirements.

Before planning a session away from the TV, check your device, controller, console’s remote features, and the game you want to play.
