Xbox Nano Controller Pre-Orders Open at $49.99

The Xbox Nano Controller is available to pre-order for $49.99, with Microsoft’s U.S. store showing a November 4 release date.

Microsoft announced the compact controller on October 14. It’s designed for younger gamers, smaller hands, and anyone who wants a controller that takes up less space in a bag.

Xbox Nano Controller keeps the standard inputs

Microsoft calls the Xbox Nano Controller its smallest controller yet. The compact body keeps the familiar Xbox control layout, with these main features confirmed in the official announcement:

• A little over 5 inches long.
• A weight of 3.5 ounces, or about 99 grams.
• All 18 standard gameplay inputs.
• A built-in rechargeable battery.
• A programmable Action Button for screenshots, gameplay recording, and other shortcuts.

Where the Nano controller works

The official compatibility details explain how the controller connects to different devices:

• Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One: Connect through Xbox Wireless.
• Windows 10/11 PCs, tablets, iOS, and Android: Connect through Bluetooth.
• Compatible smart TVs: Bluetooth support is available, but the TV and gaming app must support the controller.

The controller provides the controls; your console, device, or streaming service runs the game. If you plan to stream games installed on your Xbox to another screen, our Xbox Remote Play requirements guide covers the console and network setup.

The charging cable is sold separately

The Xbox Nano Controller’s product page says its internal battery charges through USB-C, but the charging cable is sold separately. Have a suitable cable ready if you don’t already own one.

Samsung and Meta holiday offers

Microsoft also announced two U.S. holiday promotions. Qualifying Samsung TV purchases will include a Nano controller and two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members. A separate Meta Quest purchase offer will include the same controller and subscription period for new members.

Those offers are tied to qualifying hardware purchases, so don’t assume the subscription comes with every standalone controller pre-order. Check the promotion’s terms before buying.

The Microsoft Store pre-order page has the current U.S. price and release date. Microsoft says pricing and availability will vary by country, with more markets following the initial November rollout.
