Top 3 Stories
1. Anthropic tells Claude Code not to recreate specific games.
Anthropic says it added two sentences to the Claude Code prompt on Opus 5.5 to steer the tool away from recreating a specific existing game. An Anthropic spokesperson pointed Game Developer to a post on X by Anthropic’s Addy Osmani, which cites the company’s usage policy on intellectual property. An X user named Chasm says the rule reads “Do not build a recreation of a specific existing game, even if it is renamed or called original,” showed up around October 27, and cannot be turned off. Anthropic has not confirmed that wording, that date, or the claim about turning it off. The report also asks how the tool could tell whether a user owns an idea or the assets behind it.
2. Windows Search tests sliders and phone actions.
Microsoft’s Windows Insider team says new test builds add inline actions to Windows Search. Sliders let people change volume, screen brightness, or cursor size from the search results. With a phone linked through Phone Link, search can start calls and texts or switch on Do Not Disturb. Android works now, and iPhone support is planned for early next year. Results also gain file previews, web answers for weather, stocks, and facts, and Microsoft Store apps and games, plus filters for Files & Folders, Settings, and Actions. Insider testers get these builds first, so the changes are not part of the regular Windows release yet.
3. Asylum, a first-person horror game, launches on Xbox.
Asylum is a first-person horror game set in the Hanwell Mental Institute. It arrives today on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Cloud, according to Pure Xbox’s list of 15 releases for October 30. The Xbox Store lists SOEDESCO as the publisher and Senscape as the developer.
Gaming
Two retro-style games reach Xbox.
- Queen’s Domain is a retro-fantasy action RPG for Xbox Series X|S. The Xbox Store lists Future Friends Games as publisher and Freshly Baked Games as developer, with an October 30 release date.
- Bobo and the Chest of Nightmares is a platformer inspired by 1990s classics, and Pure Xbox lists it for console and PC. Polycast Labs is its publisher and developer.
A Cat in the Hat game arrives for Xbox and PC.
- The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem launches today on Xbox Series X|S and PC, according to Pure Xbox. Pure Xbox also lists more than ten smaller Xbox launches for the day, including Cat Pipes: More Meow and Space Rock Breaker.
Tech
Windows Insider builds also add a feedback privacy policy.
- Microsoft’s announcement lists Beta build 26220.9836 and Experimental build 26340.9843, plus 26H1 and Future Platforms builds. The post also adds an Intune policy that keeps Feedback Hub feedback from commercial tenants private. Intune is Microsoft’s tool for managing work devices, so the policy mainly affects company-managed PCs.
