1. Reddit plans login tests outside the U.S.

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman says the company will test a mainly logged-in experience in selected markets outside the U.S. in the coming months. He says the change supports personalization, advertising, and protection against unauthorized data access. The boundaries remain undecided: Huffman says logged-out access to the front page, shared posts, and search results is still important. A worldwide start date has not been announced, so the plan is not a blanket login requirement taking effect tonight.

2. Activision responds to over-Seoul disaster footage.

Bereaved families want footage of the 2022 Itaewon crowd crush removed from Modern Warfare 4. In a statement supplied to GAMINGbible today, Activision says the opening cinematic uses real news coverage to establish its fictional story and was not intended to trivialize a real tragedy. The publisher’s response did not announce a removal date. The dispute concerns real footage used in the cinematic, rather than the promotional screenshot shown here.

3. Celeste and TowerFall leave the Xbox store.

Celeste co-creator Maddy Thorson says the studio deliberately delisted Celeste and TowerFall from Xbox to support the BDS boycott, according to a statement quoted by Pure Xbox. The outlet reports that both games remain available on PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC storefronts. The quoted statement gives no date for an Xbox return. A store delisting concerns new purchases; it does not by itself establish that existing owners have lost access.

Metro Redux gets a free Xbox upgrade.

  • For Xbox Series X|S, 4A Games says the free Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux updates add a 4K/60 fps mode and an upscaled 4K/120 fps option. The announcement does not separate the limits for each console. The update also revises textures, lighting, shadows, and animations, adds Impulse Trigger support, and brings Xbox Play Anywhere support. Check the available mode on your console and display rather than assuming every setup can use 120 fps. Metro

Four Xbox weekend trials begin.

  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can try WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea, and EVERSPACE 2 from October 29 through November 1. Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 are available across console and PC. These are temporary trials, so keeping a game after the event requires purchasing it or having another valid way to access it. Trials

Edge speeds up opening an already-running browser.

  • On Windows 11 versions 25H2, 26H1, and 26H2, Edge 150 or later supports accelerated launches with update KB5127936 or later. Microsoft claims a typical 15% improvement and up to 33% under heavy multitasking when Edge is already running. Windows can notify the existing browser process directly instead of starting an intermediary process to find it. The figures describe launching Edge, not faster web page loading. Edge
