The Recap: Gaming and Tech News for October 27, 2026
Here’s your gaming and tech roundup for October 27, with news checked through 8:05 PM Eastern.
Top 3 Stories
1. Pokémon UNITE sets its shutdown date and stops new payments
Pokémon UNITE will end service on Switch and mobile at 8 PM Eastern on March 22, 2027, equivalent to March 23 at 00:00 UTC. Players will no longer be able to log in or battle afterward.
Aeos gem sales, new UNITE Club purchases, and automatic renewals stopped today at 1 AM Eastern. Existing gems remain usable until service ends, and current members keep benefits through their paid membership period.
An update scheduled for November 11 at 11 PM Eastern will add a library feature for viewing certain records and content after shutdown. You must complete its required data download before service ends. The publisher says library data generally cannot move between devices, and support will end with the game.
2. Discord will put some public server conversations on the web
Discord is rolling out controls for making content from Discoverable Servers visible on public web pages and in search engines. The changes concern listed public communities, rather than private channels or direct messages.
Server pages and automated discussion summaries begin November 16. Individual messages from eligible public channels start rolling out in mid-December, without usernames or avatars. Public channels are included by default, though administrators can choose channels or switch the features off.
Members can control their own message visibility in User Settings > Data & Privacy. Server owners and administrators can manage channels under Server Settings > Community > Web Presence on desktop or browser. Discord warns that turning a feature off does not immediately remove content already published or cached by search engines.

3. Apple announces M6 MacBook Pro and iMac
Apple announced a 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac with M6. U.S. prices start at $1,999 for the laptop and $1,499 for the desktop. Preorders open October 28, with availability beginning November 6.
The MacBook Pro has a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU. Apple says graphics performance is up to 30% faster than M5 and battery life reaches up to 24 hours; those are company claims, rather than our test results. Both new Macs add Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The iMac keeps a 24-inch 4.5K display and seven color choices.

The proposed agreement covers a worker voice on pay, bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible work, and generative AI policies. The vote has not happened yet.

The assistants launch in beta in U.S. English; Logic Pro’s assistant requires an Apple Intelligence-capable Mac with macOS 27 or later. The other three assistants require an Apple Intelligence-capable device running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later.
