The Recap: Gaming and Tech News for October 24, 2026
Here’s The Recap for October 24, 2026, with gaming and tech developments checked through 4:41 PM Eastern.
Gaming
Le Mans Ultimate sets a player record during its endurance test
Le Mans Ultimate reached 11,941 concurrent Steam players today, according to Traxion’s report of SteamDB figures. The outlet places the peak at around noon Eastern, while the racing simulator was running its 24-hour Le Mans event.
The official schedule confirms Saturday’s race began at 9:30 AM Eastern, with Hypercar, LMP2, and LMGT3 classes. The event also serves as a test of the game’s online networking after earlier connection problems.
A bigger crowd does not prove that those problems are solved. Traxion reports that brake wear was disabled for Saturday’s event after problems in Friday’s race. Drivers taking part should follow the official event instructions, including how to submit networking logs if a connection fails.
Screamer’s director explains the thinking behind simpler controls
In a new interview published today, Screamer director Federico Cardini says Street Fighter 6 helped inspire the racer’s alternative Single Stick controls. He describes the option as a more familiar starting point, while saying Twin Stick offers more independent control over steering and drifting.
The controls themselves are not a new release today. Milestone added them in its October 7 update. You can switch modes in the options menu outside a race. If the original setup put you off, the alternative combines steering and drifting on one stick across all game modes.
Our Katamari retrospective looks at progress you can see
Today’s Katamari Damacy retrospective revisits the pleasure of rolling up objects that once blocked your path. The growing ball changes how you move through the same surroundings, making improvement visible without a complicated set of rules.
The article also covers the original team’s development decisions and REROLL, the existing remaster. Bandai Namco describes its updated graphics and recreated cutscenes. Our piece is a look back at the game, rather than an announcement of a new edition.
Meet the studio behind Hades
Our new Supergiant Games profile connects Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and Hades through the people who make them. Their shared creative team does not mean the games all follow the same structure.
Supergiant’s team page says the studio was founded in 2009 by Amir Rao and Gavin Simon, and all seven original members still work together. If you enjoyed Hades, the profile helps you choose another game by the kind of action or storytelling you want.
A translated store page does not guarantee a translated game
Today’s localization explainer breaks down the work behind translated dialogue, dubbed voices, and readable menus. The practical buying check is simple: confirm which parts of the game support your language.
Steam treats store-page translation and in-game language support independently. Its listings separate Interface, Subtitles, and Full Audio, so a description in your language does not promise spoken dialogue in it. Check the exact version before buying.

Early iPhone Duo display complaints need context
Today, HotHardware reports on early display complaints following the iPhone Duo launch. One owner says the inner screen cracked along the hinge after about six hours of use, and that an Apple Store replaced the phone. The account describes a problem on launch day, October 23, rather than a new launch today.
The original owner’s post includes a moderator note saying supporting photos and Apple documentation were reviewed. The moderators explicitly say they could not independently establish the cause of the damage.
Those accounts do not establish a failure rate or a fault affecting every device. Keep individual complaints separate from a confirmed explanation of what caused them.
Our Progressive Review now includes unboxing and first impressions, with benchmark testing still ahead in the saved article. Early enthusiasm and early complaints both need longer-term evidence before they can answer questions about everyday reliability.
