Sony Halts PS5 Single-Player PC Ports

PlayStation will focus on console sales, no longer bringing PS5 exclusives to PC.
PlayStation will no longer bring its single-player PS5 exclusives to PC. During a recent internal meeting, PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst confirmed that narrative-driven titles will remain locked to the company’s consoles. This marks a shift from the previous approach of porting select games to platforms like Steam.
🎮 Sony Confirms the Change
According to reporting by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Hulst told employees in a May 18 town hall that future single-player releases will not appear on PC. This could affect upcoming projects such as Marvel’s Wolverine and newer titles like Saros.
💻 Focus on Console Sales
The move appears aimed at boosting PS5 and eventually PS6 adoption by keeping key experiences exclusive. Live-service and multiplayer games are still expected to launch on PC to maintain larger player bases, but story-driven projects will now stay on PlayStation hardware.
📉 Declining Interest in PC Ports
Single-player ports on PC have underperformed in sales compared to expectations. Meanwhile, multiplayer titles like Helldivers 2 have thrived on Steam. Sony’s shift suggests a renewed commitment to using exclusives to drive console sales rather than extending all content to PC.
Will this strategy push more gamers to stick with PlayStation consoles?
