Ever wondered why the heck some games are called “AAA”? It’s like the Hollywood of gaming. The name “Triple-A” comes from the financial world, where “AAA” represents the highest quality or safest investment. In gaming, it means the big-budget, high-stakes titles made by industry giants like EA, Sony, and Ubisoft. Think Call of DutyGrand Theft Auto, or Final Fantasy. These games have massive teams working behind the scenes and can cost up to $200 million to produce.

But it’s not just about development – AAA games also come with flashy marketing campaigns that seem impossible to escape. They build up tons of hype before the game even drops, and some keep cashing in with DLCs and in-game purchases long after release.

Now, does that mean AAA games are always better? Not exactly. While they can blow your mind with pretty graphics and expansive worlds, they can also get repetitive. Some series, like FIFA, release almost the same game every year with minor updates. And those microtransactions? Yeah, they’re everywhere.

On the other hand, indie games—often made by smaller teams—bring creativity and risk. They may not have shiny graphics, but they pack a lot of heart and originality.

So, are you Team AAA for the epic scale or Team Indie for the creativity?
