Sony Is Skipping CES 2027 After 60 Years

Sony is skipping CES 2027, ending a 60-year run at the major technology show.

Push Square reports that Sony will not attend next year’s CES after taking part in the event since its first CES in 1967.

A Sony spokesperson also confirmed that Sony and its affiliates do not plan to exhibit at the January event, according to reporting that cites Bloomberg and Nikkei.

CES 2027 runs January 6 through January 9, 2027, in Las Vegas.

Sony is putting more focus on entertainment

Sony says its business pillars are shifting toward “entertainment”, “intellectual property”, and “creation technology”. The company also says it plans to continue working with the Consumer Technology Association, which owns and operates CES.

The change follows a smaller Sony presence at CES 2026. Sony did not have its traditional standalone booth at the show, while Sony Honda Mobility represented the companies through its Afeela electric vehicle project.

For PlayStation gamers, Sony leaving CES does not mean the company is leaving gaming. PlayStation remains part of Sony’s entertainment business, while the CES decision changes where Sony chooses to present its broader technology and entertainment work.

A 60-year CES run comes to an end

Sony products appeared at the first CES in 1967, making the company’s decision to skip 2027 a major break from its long history with the event.

Sony has not confirmed whether it could return to CES in a later year. For now, CES 2027 will go ahead in Las Vegas without an official Sony or affiliate exhibit.
