Nintendo Cancels Kirby Air Riders Halloween Event
Nintendo has canceled the Halloween event in Kirby Air Riders.
The “Trick or Treat!” event started on October 28 and was set to run through November 4, Nintendo Life reports. Players saw the screen freeze during matches, and Nintendo ended the event because of the problem.
Kirby Air Riders is a Nintendo Switch 2 racing game that launched on November 20, 2025.
What Went Wrong
Nintendo Life reports that many players hit freezes in early matches. In a fast game like Air Riders, a frozen screen makes matches hard to play.
- A video from player TAHK0 shows the freezing during a match.
- Nintendo’s Japanese support account says, based on a machine translation, that it confirmed an issue where the screen “temporarily freezes during gameplay.” Nintendo is canceling the event for that reason.
Will the Event Return?
Nintendo apologized for the cancellation. Nintendo Life says the company plans to hold the event again so everyone can earn its themed reward, which is spooky Ghost headwear. No return date has been announced.
