You can turn on NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction through an Early Access update in the NVIDIA app for supported GeForce RTX games.

What does Ray Reconstruction do?

NVIDIA says DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction uses a second-generation transformer model to make ray-traced graphics look cleaner, sharper, and more stable. It replaces older hand-tuned denoisers, tools that clean up noise and grain in ray-traced lighting.

Get the NVIDIA app Early Access update

NVIDIA says the new Ray Reconstruction model is available through its Early Access releases. To install the update:

  1. Open the NVIDIA app.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open About.
  4. Turn on Early Access releases.
  5. Install the available NVIDIA app update when prompted.

After the Early Access update is installed, NVIDIA provides the following steps for supported games:

  1. Open the Graphics section in the NVIDIA app.
  2. Select a supported game. You can also use Global Settings if you want the setting applied to every supported game.
  3. Scroll to Driver Settings.
  4. Open DLSS Override – Model Presets.
  5. Select Custom.
  6. Open the Ray Reconstruction menu.
  7. Choose Recommended or Preset F.
  8. Select Apply.

NVIDIA gives the same setup steps in its Gamescom 2026 DLSS 4.5 guide. Gamers who prefer to avoid Early Access software can wait for the regular NVIDIA app release planned for September.

What changes with the new model?

NVIDIA says the new model has 35% more compute capability and processes 20% more parameters while keeping performance close to the earlier model. NVIDIA says the larger training set improves lighting accuracy, motion clarity, and image stability.

The model is designed to rebuild cleaner lighting from limited ray samples. Developers also get more control over how it uses image data from earlier frames.

Why is the option missing?

The feature works across GeForce RTX GPUs, but the game and driver must support it. NVIDIA keeps a current list of games and apps that support its RTX features, including DLSS and Ray Reconstruction.

If the option is missing, check that the NVIDIA app and GeForce driver are current and that the game supports Ray Reconstruction. The Early Access update changes the available model; it cannot add ray tracing or path tracing to a game or make unsupported games compatible.
