- Open the Xbox refund request page and sign in with the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
- Select your purchase and choose Request a refund.
- Explain why you’re requesting a refund, then select Next.
- Review the details and select Submit.
🧾 Which Refund Window Applies?
Xbox’s guidance separates the usual approval conditions from the deadline for submitting a request:

Most in-game consumables and virtual currency are not refundable once purchased or used.
Microsoft can limit the number and type of game refunds you receive, along with the total compensation in a year. It can also stop offering refunds if it believes the system is being abused, except where a refund is required by law.
⏳ How to Track Your Refund
Microsoft says reviewing a request may take up to 72 hours. Open the Refund status tab to check for updates.
Once a refund is issued, the money generally returns to the original payment method within 3–5 business days. The exact timing can vary by payment provider.
📅 Canceling an Xbox Pre-order
Xbox says you can cancel a digital game pre-order up to 10 days before launch. After that point, you may be billed and need to use the refund request form.
⚠️ What to Do if Xbox Denies Your Request
Xbox says refund decisions are final, but you can appeal a denial by replying to the decision email. You cannot submit the same request again through the refund page.
