STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT Launches August 20 on Xbox and Steam

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT launches August 20, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The updated visual novel brings rebuilt artwork, a refined interface, expanded story content, and a new Gamma Worldline route. Gamers on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch have a longer wait, with those versions scheduled for October 29, 2026. The official game site confirms the split release schedule and lists English text with Japanese voice audio.

Xbox and Steam get STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT first

Developer MAGES is releasing the Xbox Series X|S and Steam versions more than two months before the other console editions. The October 29 release covers PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe.

Physical editions are listed only for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. Xbox and Steam gamers are getting digital releases.

The reboot adds more than new artwork

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT revisits the time-travel story that first released in 2009. Character designer huke returned to redesign outfits and accessories, while backgrounds rebuild Akihabara with period reference material. Spike Chunsoft says the reboot has twice as many still images and 20% more background graphics than the original.

The story has also been adjusted. The official site says the scenario uses STEINS;GATE ELITE as its base, with pacing changes, new dialogue, additional narrative text, and a new ending scenario.

A new Gamma Worldline route expands the story

The largest story addition is the Gamma Worldline. Spike Chunsoft revealed the route on June 5 and confirmed it was not part of the original 2009 release.

Gamma places Rintaro Okabe in a worldline where the time machine was never completed and D-Mails do not exist. Familiar relationships have also changed, giving returning fans story material they have not seen in the original game.
