Samsung’s next Odyssey gaming monitors are pushing refresh rates much higher, but the biggest number comes with a tradeoff. The 27-inch Odyssey G6 can reach up to 1,100Hz only in HD mode, while QHD runs at up to 600Hz. Samsung also revealed new OLED models aimed at gamers who want bigger screens, sharper pictures, or a mix of speed and resolution. Pricing has not been announced yet, and availability will vary by market.

Four Odyssey monitors cover very different setups

Samsung announced the 2027 Odyssey lineup at Gamescom 2026 on August 27. The lineup includes the Odyssey OLED G9, OLED G8, OLED G7, and G6, with each model built around a different screen size or performance target.

The 1,100Hz number needs context

On the Odyssey G6, the highest 1,100Hz setting requires dropping to HD resolution. Gamers who want the sharper QHD picture can still use up to 600Hz. Samsung says the G6 uses a Fast IPS panel with a 1 ms response time and is aimed at FPS players who care most about speed and motion clarity.

The OLED G8 takes a more flexible approach. Its three display modes let PC gamers trade resolution for a higher refresh rate without moving to a different monitor. Samsung also includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, two HDMI ports, USB-C with 98 W power delivery, and a built-in USB hub on the G8.

HDR10+ Gaming support is growing too

Samsung is also expanding its game support. The company plans to bring HDR10+ Gaming support to more than 20 AAA games by the first half of 2027. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is part of that push through Samsung’s work with Activision Blizzard.

Samsung has not shared prices for the new Odyssey lineup. The company says launch timing and availability will differ by market, so the next details to watch are regional prices and exact release dates.
