Sony increasing PS Plus Essential cost for new subscribers starting May 20, 2026.

Sony is increasing the cost of PS Plus Essential for new subscribers starting Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The company says the change reflects ongoing market conditions and will affect one-month and three-month membership options. The 12-month plan remains unchanged for now.

💰 New Subscription Prices

Subscription LengthCurrent PriceNew Price
1 Month£6.99 / $9.99£7.99 / $10.99
3 Months£19.99 / $24.99£21.99 / $27.99

📅 What Gamers Should Know

Existing subscribers will not see their current price change unless their membership lapses or they switch tiers. Sony says the price increase is limited to select regions, without specifying which. Exceptions apply in Turkey and India, where current members are also affected.

If your membership expires, you will pay the updated rate the next time you sign up.

❓ Stay Subscribed or Renew?

Gamers who want to avoid the higher cost may want to keep their subscription active, as letting it lapse will trigger the new pricing.

Will you continue with PS Plus at the new rate?
