Nintendo Switch Online members can play Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown through a limited Game Trial beginning September 24. The offer gives members a chance to try the game before buying it, and Nintendo has paired the trial with a temporary digital discount. Six details are worth knowing before you start the download.
1. The trial runs through September 30
The Game Trial starts September 24 at 10 a.m. PT and ends September 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT. You need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership to use the trial at no additional cost.
2. You get the full game, not a small demo
Nintendo’s Game Trials FAQ says a Game Trial gives members the full version of a selected game for a limited period. Access stops when the trial period ends or when the Nintendo Switch Online membership expires.
3. Your save data carries over if you buy the game
Your progress is not deleted when the trial ends. Nintendo says Game Trial save data carries over if you later purchase the game, so you can continue from where you stopped.
4. The digital game is 70% off for a limited time
Nintendo is also offering the digital version at 70% off through October 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The discount gives you extra time after the Game Trial ends to decide whether you want to keep playing.
5. You can download it from the Nintendo Switch Online section
Nintendo says you can download a Game Trial from Nintendo eShop by opening the Nintendo Switch Online section, choosing the available trial, and selecting Download. An internet connection is required for the download and for the first launch after restarting the console. Online features also require an internet connection.
6. Trying the game can earn you 100 Platinum Points
Nintendo Switch Online members can also earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points by trying the Game Trial during the promotion.
The Nintendo Store says the Switch version uses 7.1 GB of storage, so starting the download before you plan to play can save some time.
