In 3 Days The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom almost outsold the Wii U in its Lifetime

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (aka TOTK from now on) is a gaming phenomenon. The sequel to Breath of the Wild sold over 10 million copies in just three days! That's a huge accomplishment, and it's clear that fans are loving the game. The game's huge success means it's likely to beat other big games like Hogwarts Legacy at 15 Million and God of War: Ragnarok at 11 Million Sales.

TOTK was released on May 12 and builds on what Breath of the Wild did well. It has a large map with lots of places to explore and lots of items you can craft items to help you on your journey. Fans of the series seem to like that it's familiar but with some new twists.

Even though the game is $70, Nintendo's most expensive game, and only available on one console, it has already sold a lot of copies. It has sold one-third of the copies of Breath of the Wild which is currently at 29 million as of writing. TOTK is the fastest-selling Zelda game, the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game, and the fastest-selling Nintendo game in America. That is a lot of accomplishments! It's so popular, it has sold more copies than other popular games like Horizon: Forbidden West which is at 8 million, and God of War: Ragnarok. It has even sold more copies than some games that are available on more than one platform, like Hogwarts Legacy.

TOTK is a game that is fun to play even without the need for battle passes, seasons, live service updates, or online multiplayer. This makes it different from 90% of the games that are out now. Nintendo's success with this game shows that people still like to play single-player games. Breath of the Wild was and still is extremely popular, and lots of people still play it today despite it coming out in 2017. It is safe to say that TOTK will also be popular for a long time.
