Overwatch 2 Teams Up with Porsche
Overwatch 2 and Porsche have teamed up for an exciting event! Legendary Porsche D.Va and Porsche Pharah skins are now available in the Premium Shop. You can also earn free Porsche-themed cosmetics by completing event challenges until June 3.
Competitive Play Updates
Demotion Protection Modifier
The Demotion Protection modifier is now inside the Rank Progress bar to make it easier to see.
If you’re in Demotion Protection, you won’t see your progress drop below your skill level. If you lose your Demotion match, you’ll only see the adjustment for that match, not combined with the previous match.
New Pressure Competitive Modifier
This appears for players at the very high or very low ends of skill levels.
High-ranked players (like Champions) will see less progress for wins and more loss for defeats.
Low-ranked players (like low Bronze) will see more progress for wins and less loss for defeats.
Developer Comments: This new modifier helps balance ranks for top and bottom players. High or low-ranked players will see this modifier after every match as they aim for average ranks.
Grouping Restrictions
Grand Master players can now group within 3 divisions.
Champion players can now group within 1 division.
Developer Comments: These changes help improve match quality and reduce queue times, especially for higher ranks.
Matchmaking Updates
The matchmaker will now avoid putting players on losing streaks into teams predicted to lose.
Developer Comments: Losing streaks feel bad. This change helps give players a fair chance to break their streak, though it doesn’t guarantee a win.
Hero Updates
Armor Health
Armor now reduces damage by 5 per projectile, up to 50%.
Out-of-combat health regeneration is now 10 health per second plus 5% of maximum health.
Developer Comments: Armor will better resist rapid-fire and shotgun weapons. Out-of-combat health regeneration now scales with tank heroes’ large health pools.
Tanks
Role Passive
Tanks now have a 25% damage reduction against critical headshot damage.
Knockback resistance increased from 30% to 50%.
Developer Comments: These changes help tanks survive high burst damage.
Junker Queen
Commanding Shout: This can now be activated while using other abilities. Cooldown was reduced from 14 to 12 seconds.
Developer Comments: This makes Commanding Shout more responsive.
Sigma
Gravitic Flux: No longer requires line of sight to the center of the effect.
Developer Comments: This change makes Gravitic Flux more reliable.
Wrecking Ball
Grappling Claw: Impact damage increased from 50 to 60.
Piledriver: Movement lockout duration for enemies increased from 0.5 to 0.75 seconds.
Minefield: Damage increased from 130 to 165. Explosion knockback increased from 5 to 10.
Developer Comments: These changes make Wrecking Ball’s abilities more impactful.
Zarya
Graviton Surge: Radius increased from 6 to 7 meters. Duration increased from 3.5 to 4 seconds.
Developer Comments: This makes Graviton Surge more powerful on its own.
Damage Heroes
Junkrat
Frag Launcher: Impact damage increased from 40 to 45 (total damage increased from 120 to 125).
Developer Comments: This change helps Junkrat secure eliminations with direct hits.
Echo
Duplicate: Ultimate gain multiplier while transformed increased from 4 to 4.5.
Developer Comments: This makes it easier to charge an ultimate during Duplicate.
Hanzo
Dragonstrike: Speed increased from 12 to 15 meters per second.
Developer Comments: This makes Dragonstrike more effective outside of combos.
Support Heroes
Brigitte
Rally: Now resets Shield Bash cooldown upon activation.
Developer Comments: This adjustment balances Brigitte’s burst damage.
Bug Fixes
General
Fixed bugs with Mirrorwatch and Competitive Progress.
Maps
Fixed areas in Eichenwalde, Samoa, and Shambali where players could get stuck.
Heroes
Fixed visual and gameplay bugs for Mercy and Venture.
