Nintendo plans on ending the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, which will let buyers save money on the console and game together. A leaked internal GameStop memo will confirm that the bundle will no longer be produced, and no equal-price replacement will be announced.
If you didn’t know the bundle included the Switch 2 handheld with a copy of Mario Kart World at a lower combined cost than buying the game separately.
Nintendo had already said production would stop in Fall 2025, and the memo confirms its end.
Nintendeal shared the internal GameStop communication stating the bundle SKU has “reached end of lifecycle” and future shipments of Switch 2 will be the base console only. Nintendo had called the bundle a “limited-time offer” in April. Units can still be found on Amazon, but availability may change after the holidays.
The first Switch kept a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle as a long-term option, but it is unclear if the Switch 2 will get a similar replacement. The Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 bundle is mostly sold out. Other potential bundles, like one for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, could appear in January, but no new Mario or Zelda titles are due soon.
The bundle is selling $499.99, giving buyers Mario Kart World for about $30 less than its $80 price. The base Switch 2 console costs $449.99. Ending the bundle raises concerns that $499.99 could become the price for the console alone if trends continue, especially as Nintendo avoids raising prices during hardware and memory cost pressures.
