Nintendo announced that it will buy a majority stake in Bandai Namco Studios Singapore. The deal is set for April 1, 2026, with Nintendo taking 80% of the shares. The remaining shares will be bought after the studio’s operations have stabilized. Once the deal is complete, the studio will be renamed Nintendo Studios Singapore.

Nintendo said the purpose of the acquisition is to strengthen its development structure, and noted that Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has contributed in-game art assets to Nintendo titles, including the Splatoon series. The studio has recently worked on projects such as Splatoon 3, Tekken 8, Ace Combat 7, and Soulcalibur VI, among others, with roles that include concept art, character modeling, environment modeling, and animation.

The studio was founded in 2013 and focuses on creating in-game art assets. It is located at Infinite Studios in Singapore and is led by CEO Makoto Ishii. Nintendo said the purchase will have only a minor impact on the company’s results for this fiscal year.

This move follows Nintendo’s plans to expand its internal development teams, which have included the addition of Nintendo Pictures in 2022 and Shiver Entertainment in 2024.
