The GameCube Screen That Could Have Changed Gaming Forever

Have you ever heard about the GameCube screen that could have been but never was? It's a fascinating piece of gaming history that almost turned the GameCube into a portable console!

Adam Doree, a former media executive who's worked with IGN and Mashable, recently uncovered rare footage of this unreleased GameCube screen. It had a 4:3 aspect ratio with a resolution of 320 x 420, and it could have made the GameCube a truly portable device.

In the footage, the late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata can be seen showcasing the screen while playing "Super Mario Sunshine." He mentions the "high-quality screen" and suggests that it would be a great addition to the console. Sadly, as we all know, this screen never made it to store shelves.

There's also a clip of Hideki Konno, the producer behind Mario Kart and Nintendogs, revealing that this LCD screen had 3D capabilities—a whole nine years before the first 3DS was even announced!

Although Nintendo never released this screen, fans have taken matters into their own hands by creating their own versions. But imagine if Nintendo had launched a first-party screen—how might it have changed the trajectory of the video game industry? What do you think?
